Today a geopolitical and ecological issue, yesterday a foundation of both Western and Eastern philosophies.A fundamental element for the Greeks, a symbol of purification in Christianity, deeply connected to the sacred feminine, the unconscious, and spiritual cleansing… water will be a central theme for COTE Magazine Switzerland and is being celebrated by its sister company, COTE Shanghai, a partner of the Codes of Tides exhibition currently taking place in London. The event brings together institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai (MoCA Shanghai), the University of London, and the Shanghai International Culture Association. These are steps toward peace, dialogue, and intercultural exchange through a theme that lies at the heart of life. The exhibition uses water as a creative medium and digital art to construct a poetic dialogue between the tides of Shanghai and the River Thames in London.
As one of the most significant projects in “Our Water Program,” Codes of Tides features 22 sets of multidisciplinary works—spanning video, sculpture, installation, photography, painting, and performance art. The exhibition employs a nonlinear curatorial approach. The space is subtly structured around five conceptual undercurrents: artificial intelligence, biological evolution, environmental ecology, and humanistic narratives. Rather than isolating the works, these themes interweave like flowing river segments, fostering organic dialogue across mediums.COTE Switzerland is proud of its sister company, COTE Shanghai.
